A library card is your gateway to the information and resources of the Santa Maria Public Library. Your card allows you to check out materials and resources, access online databases and register for programs.
The privacy of your transactions with the library are protected by California Government Code Section 6267.
Apply for a Library card online, or in person at any branch location
To apply for a card you must bring a valid government issued picture I.D. and a recent document or bill showing your current address (if not on the picture I.D.). Children under 18 must have a parent present to sign the library card application. You are financially responsible for library materials checked out with your card. Parents are responsible for children's fines and lost material charges.
Please report lost or stolen cards immediately. There is a $1.00 charge for replacement cards.
The Santa Maria Public Library has a variety of materials available for use both in the library and to check out. Patrons can check out up to 50 items at any given time. Please stop by the service desk at any branch for additional details.
All materials are checked out for three weeks at a time. If there is not a hold by another library patron, items will automatically renew two days before the due date. There is a 5 renewal limit on all items.
Overdue items are subject to a fine. Fines will be charged from the due date and apply every day the library is open.
